Unpopular Opinion: I don’t believe podcasters have an issue with being found. That means we’re chasing people who might be interested in our show. I believe we all need to put energy into getting those people that listen to podcasts and share the same interests.
Before we get started, make sure you join the PodCentral community. We’ll be sharing training for growth, monetizing, and doing weekly group coaching sessions on Thursdays! Best part? This community is free for a lifetime. Join now.
How to Acquire Listeners
Getting listeners is easy when you know where they are. Let’s be real, most podcast hosts believe marketing their show is sharing content on social media or spam emails. That’s not the best strategy to get results.
Listeners are acquired by connecting with the platforms your audience uses, the influencers they support, and the brands they love.
If the podcast already has 1,000+ people listening and they’re interested in history, couldn’t you easily get those same people to listen to you talk about history? That would be a lot easier than going to Facebook groups and talking to hundreds of people that might care about history.
Newsletters are often overlooked. There are a few different newsletters in your niche that can be found with a simple Google search. Sometimes, you’ll find some companies you can work with that will make a deal. Bartering is an option. You don’t have to pay all the time! Have some value to offer and you’ll definitely get some results.
I just needed to rant about this today because I see a lot of podcasters spamming podcast communities in hopes of growing their show.
I have to invite you again to the PodCentral community. This newsletter will remain active but the community space is going to be even better. It’ll even be free like this newsletter. You can join us here.
